Fire in Poland
Meat processing hall measuring 20,000 m2 and employing 1,500 workers.
All machinery was affected by flames, heat and chlorine compounds present in soot and fumes. All raw material and finished products were affected. The loss generated significant Material Damage and a lengthy Business Interruption, which however was not insured.
Total losses amounted to between 500,000,000 and 1,000,000,000 PLN (combined PD and BI).
This was the largest factory fire in Poland’s recent history.
Insured losses amounted to approximately 160,000,000 PLN as per final agreement and release.
Cause of the loss: the malfunction of an air compressor caused electrical overload and short circuit.
